The Challenge
Night fishing is a power-hungry trade. The vessel's fish-attracting light array draws more electrical load than everything else onboard combined, and it must run reliably through every working night of the season — alongside the ice machine that preserves the catch and the pumps that keep the boat dry. The engine space on a coastal fishing vessel is tight, hot, and salt-laden, and the owner runs a lean operation: the genset had to be compact enough to fit, simple enough for the crew to maintain themselves, and priced for a working boat's budget — without compromising on genuine marine construction.
Our Solution
We configured a 30kW marine genset on the Raywin 4D24 platform — a compact four-cylinder marine diesel matched to exactly this duty. Cooling is by engine-mounted heat exchanger with a direct seawater circuit, eliminating the bulky radiator a land genset would need and cutting the unit's footprint to fit the vessel's engine space. A SmartGen marine controller and 24V DC starting system integrate with the boat's existing electrics, and the unit completed full load testing at our factory before shipment.
True marine construction — engine-mounted heat exchanger with direct seawater cooling circuit, not a land unit adapted for the job.
Compact sound-attenuated marine canopy with all service points (seawater inlet, fuel in/return, DC supply, exhaust) routed to one accessible panel for fast installation in a tight engine space.
Simple, crew-maintainable platform with affordable consumables and filters — built for an owner-operator who services his own boat between trips.

The Result
Through two full fishing seasons since delivery, the unit has logged over 4,000 running hours powering the light array, ice machine, and onboard systems — with no power-related interruption to a single night's fishing. The owner services the unit himself between trips using the spare filter kit supplied with delivery, and has referred two other boats in the same harbor to us since.
Compact marine construction keeps the vessel's night-fishing loads running without forcing the owner into a larger, harder-to-service generator platform.
