The Challenge
The mine is located in a remote area with an extremely unstable local power grid, and is frequently accompanied by high dust levels and extreme temperature variations. Any power outage would shut down the ventilation and drainage systems deep underground, causing millions of dollars in production losses every day and directly threatening the lives of the miners working underground. The client needed a “heart-level” main power supply that could withstand the extremely harsh environment.
Our Solution
We designed a parallel power station consisting of three 1500kVA MTU (4000 series) generator sets. For the high dust and heavy-load environment, we implemented the following in-depth customization
- Equipped with a customized cooling system to ensure zero power derating in extreme high-temperature environments.
- Integrated with an intelligent synchronization control system, enabling seamless automatic parallel operation of multiple gensets.
- Housed in a custom-built, heavy-duty silent container featuring advanced dust-proof and anti-corrosion protection.
Project Gallery
The Result
Since delivery, the power station has operated continuously and without failure for over 5000 hours in harsh environments. In the event of multiple complete grid failures in the local area, the three units achieved perfect load distribution and redundancy switching through the ComAp controller, ensuring 100% normal operation of the mine’s core life support system. The client has designated us as their exclusive power supplier for Africa.
